"My project reinforced the use of creative process in learning to develop a body of work for potential exhibition."

Hometown: Bainbridge, PA

Major(s): English (Literature and Language), minor: photography

Project title: “Re-frame, Re-frain: a Photographer's Paradox” (working with Jacob Sauer '10)

Faculty mentor: Krista Steinke Finch, assistant professor of art

Goals: The project had two aspects. First, I created a digital database and image library based on my research of images and photographers throughout the history of photography. The other part of the project was to take photographs of suburban neighborhoods in the Lehigh Valley and manipulate the photographs both chemically and digitally using various computer programs.

What I learned: Besides learning time management skills, research techniques, and how to use various technologies, my project reinforced the use of the creative process in learning to develop a body of work for potential exhibition. The image database library will be a vital tool for faculty members, staff, and students across all disciplines.

Future plans: I hope to further my education in graduate school to prepare for a career in higher education and student affairs.
