Moravian College honored as top workplace for 2nd consecutive year
Bethlehem, Pa., March 5, 2015—Moravian College was named a 2015 Top Workplace in the Lehigh Valley by The Morning Call. The College was ranked 8th among the 10 mid-sized employers (125-499 employees) that were honored in this year’s survey. Last year, Moravian College was ranked second in the large employer category, highlighting organizations with 500-plus employees.
The awards were announced at The Morning Call’s Top Workplaces Dinner Program on March 4 at the PPL Center in Allentown, Pa. The results were published in a special section of The Morning Call on Thursday, March 5. The content is available online at .
“We are pleased to be recognized by The Morning Call for being a top workplace in the Lehigh Valley for the second consecutive year,” said Bryon L. Grigsby ’90. “Moravian College truly is a great place to go to college and work. We are guided by our mission and the students who inspire us to do better every day. The dedicated men and women of the faculty and staff make the Moravian College experience something really special. We are a community who greatly appreciates the critical role of our alumni and friends in supporting the institution and creating opportunities for our students to succeed.”
The Morning Call’s top workplaces are selected through an analysis of confidential surveys of employees that were conducted in the fall by WorkplaceDynamics, LLP, a leading research firm on organizational health and employee engagement. Employees were asked whether they agreed with 19 statements about their workplaces. According to WorkplaceDynamics, the statement with the strongest correlation to a high ranking is "I believe this company is going in the right direction.” (If employees tended to agree with that statement, they were likely to rate their workplace favorably in other areas too, resulting in an overall high ranking for their workplace.) Other statements with high correlation to a high ranking were: "I feel genuinely appreciated at this company;" "I have confidence in the leader of this company;" and, "My job makes me feel like I am part of something meaningful."
