This newly created role will help students develop their career path beginning in their first year
BETHLEHEM, PA, April 6, 2021: Today, Moravian College announced the hiring of Kristina Rieger as a Career Development Strategist in their Center for Career and Civic Engagement. Prior to joining Moravian, Ms. Rieger worked at Southern New Hampshire University as the Assistant Director, Wolak Learning Center and as an Adjunct Instructor at the Manchester, NH school. Adding the role of Career Development Strategist is one of the first initiatives undertaken to support ELEVATE, the undergraduate experience recently launched for new, incoming undergraduate students, beginning with the class of 2025. Ms. Rieger is the first Career Development Strategist hired, with more following this spring and summer ahead of the fall 2021 semester.
“We’re very excited to have Kristina join the team here at Moravian, we know that her focus on the students and their career goals will make a real, measurable impact on their lives,” commented Amy Saul, dean of career and civic engagement at Moravian College. “The ELEVATE experience for students is strongly focused on academic exploration, career opportunities, leadership development and global experiences, and this role will be an integral part of supporting all of these for undergraduate students.”
The creation of the Career Development Strategist position is part of Moravian’s increased focus on preparing its undergraduate students for post-graduation success, either in professional careers or graduate school and is an integral part of ELEVATE. In addition, ELEVATE includes the Moravian Career Promise, which offers post-graduation support for students that earn eight career readiness badges that are aligned with eight core competencies identified by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).
“Survey results show that about 98% of the Moravian class of 2020 are either employed or enrolled in graduate school, and the Career Development Strategist role is intended to further bolster those numbers,” commented Scott Dams, vice president for enrollment and marketing. “We’re just getting started with ELEVATE, and there are plans to add more Career Development Strategists in the coming months to support the first class taking part in this unique and exciting experience.”
